The "Hater" Grater Upper Handguard is a bold evolution of Khyber Customs' iconic design, purpose-built for standard AKM and AK-74 pattern rifles. First introduced in 2016 and proudly made in Houston, TX, this is the original cheese grater-style upper trusted by AK purists and builders alike.
What sets it apart? Our handguard is the only one on the market treated with a Melonite QPQ finish—far superior to traditional Black Oxide or Phosphate coatings. This advanced treatment ensures exceptional corrosion resistance, enhanced durability, and surface hardening for long-term performance.
Each unit is end-user adjustable for a custom fit across varying gas tube tolerances, ensuring a rock-solid fit on nearly any AK platform.
Compatibility:
Fits most AKM and AK-74 pattern gas tubes, replacing standard 4.25” factory upper handguards.
