Extremely light and comfortable. But ...

These are great boots. They are comfortable, they dont develop any sort of excessive odor and they look good. They also have a simple to use lacing system, and are extremely lightweight. You can get products to help waterproof them and keep them clean. They perform well in the heat and took very little "breaking in" to get used to.

So you cant really go wrong with them.

Now for the drawbacks. To save on weight, Magnum has removed the solid vibram rubber sole from previous models and opted for a much thinner layer of tan colored rubber bonded to an EVA foam sole. The boot is stiff enough with this construction, but it does not offer as much protection against things like thorns and nails as the previous designs would. I spent a good deal of time pulling out acacia thorns from my boots in the bushveld. Having said that, none of the thorns penetrated into my feet, whereas other people with foam shoes had thorns which simply went all the way through. Thus this boot is really like a pair of running shoes with the stability of a boot. That may be idea for certain terrains where a lot of distance needs to be covered and fatigue needs to be avoided at all costs. It should be noted that these boots feel like they are half the mass of previous editions of the boot.

In applications where you are going to be walking over terrain with sharp pieces of metal (say, broken man-made structures), thorns or other sharp piercing hazards, then this may not be the best choice.
